Will I get paid? What can I do?

Hello,
I was working for a sales company. I worked there for around three weeks. I did leave last Friday because I had found a new job which was a lot more stable and what I wanted to do. I spoke to my manager and he said it was fine for me leaving as I was on probation.
The only thing I am worried about is my pay. I am due to be paid on the 31st May 2013. I will probably get about £750 or maybe a bit more or less. I am worried because what if they don't pay me? I didn't sign a contract. The good thing about that is I haven't signed anything that will say if you leave you won't get paid. Is there a down side to not signing a contract though?
Before I left I asked my manager and I said will I get paid for the work that I have done and he did say yes.
I would just like some advice on what can I do if they don't pay me on the 31st May 2013.
This is my first post so sorry if I posted it in the wrong section.

Did you have written particulars of your employment terms? They don't have to be signed and were not a legal requirement for the length of time you worked there but very often are provided at the start of employment (may even mention a probationary period).
Did you give them your resignation in writing?
By the way, your manager was right to say that you would be paid for work actually done. What evidence do you have for working there?0 -

I was on a 3 month probation period. The only thing that I signed was a office rules and regulations. That didn't say anything about my employment terms there. It didn't say anything about me not getting paid if I left. I didn't give him written notice no. I only told him and he spoke to the team upstairs and they were okay with it. He did say I would get paid for the work I have done so the days that I worked there.0

No written contract should say you would not be paid for work done. That would not be legal. So don't worry about it.
Probation periods don't amount to much other than that sometimes you get improved benefits (like company sick pay entitlement).
By the way, if you worked there for about 3 weeks then you are entitled to pay for holiday accrued but not taken. Assuming you worked 5 days a week and did 3 weeks work, you would be entitled to about 1.8 days paid leave. Did you have time off for the early May bank holiday?0 -
Stop worrying about what might not happen.
You are entitled to be paid, there is no reason why you won't be paid.
Come back on here if you aren't paid, which is unlikely, and we will help you then.
We cant help with something that hasn't happened yet.
Good luck in your new job.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I was doing Monday to Friday, 12 - 8. I did get time off for the May bank holiday. They said it would be paid. I think it might of been a bit more than three weeks. It was 30th April until the 17th May. I did ring them today because I wanted to know if I am going to be paid and also how much I am going to get paid. They said they are going to get back in contact with me. They finish at 8 and I finish at 5 so if I don't hear anything by tomorrow then I will give them a call back.
As I said thank you for all your help. I will definitley come back on here if I don't get paid.0 -
Just to let you know that I did get paid. If there is anybody else in a simular situation then I think you will probably get paid. Thank you to everybody for your help.0
