Electronic descaler/decalcifier/limescale remover?

My electric shower is clogged up with limescale. Has anyone tried one of those electronic descaler/decalcifier/limescale remover things? (a box of tricks with coils that "zaps" yer water!)

Details/advice much appreciated...

Ed

Haven't tried that but why not try some vinegar or stuff you use to descale kettlws with? Good luck and hope your prob is sorted. If I see any tips in 'how clean is your house?' will let you know. Suspect they would recommend vinegar though LOL They always do

    Possible Options:

    The Eddy

    H2Flow Shop A

    H2Flow Shop B

Not tried any so can not vouch for any of them but also currently considering for possible use.

Probably too late for you ;) but I installed one of these gadgets a couple of years ago to my copper piping. It was easy to install.

However, after two years of use I can honestly say I've noticed very little difference. I live in a very hard water area (Shropshire), and still have limescale build up on my taps, shower head etc. I still get limescale in my sinks, toilet, kettle and dishwasher (and thats only the places I can see), although I should say the limescale in my kettle isn't as crusty, it seems more powdery

The claims when I purchased it was that over time I would see a reduction in limescale, and I would notice limescale slowly disappearing from built up areas like taps etc but alas I cannot back up this claim.

FYI this is the one I purchased

We actually manufacture electronic water conditioners. Obviously I will not mention on this thread which one, but it has not been mentioned. It does NOT remove all limescale, it actually puts it into suspension in the water and it should not crust to the same extent. In our house it cleared out the hot water tank and we took a shower apart which had no scale on the element. Yes, you do still get scale in very hard water areas but it does not build up as much. The advantage with this over a salt water softener is that you can drink the water from any tap as it does not add any chemicals.

When we first had this fitted it was at the start of the manufacture process and I took a bit of convincing, but we had the hard water test strips and I watched the hardness go down gradually over a period of about 6 weeks. It has removed all scale from our inside mains water system as I said before. (we have even looked inside the pipes we knew to be scaled up previously.)

If it does not seem to be working after a while, we recommend that people swap the different ends of the aerial lead around (plug A into B and B into A.)

We would be the first to admit it does not always work, in some flats the water flows wrongly to let it work (sorry, don't understand this entirely, it is my OH that actually makes them!!), and there is some other things that stop it working.

We still get the build up on the shower head, taps etc, and we are in a very hard water area, but where the water does not settle for a long while in small quantities it is clear.

We offer a lengthy money back guarantee and we have only had a handful returned over a period of more than 10 years. Probably well under 1%.

Just want to say give them a chance, most of the time they do the job quite well.
