Wedding envy...

Hi,
I know this is completely stupid but I'm having major wedding envy! My OHs sister is getting married a few months after us. They've booked most things, she's got her dress and her mums really involved. We haven't really booked anything as I keep panicking its all wrong. My mums not bothered unless its on her terms and I'm just feeling a bit down about it! My OH wants everything to be perfect for me but can't change my parents, mum wants everything on her terms and then she's okay, if not she gets stroppy and a bit mean.
Sorry, needed to get it out as don't wanna chew my OHs ear off!
Guess I'm a bit jealous of how lovely my FMIL is being. She's offered to come dress shopping etc with me which is so sweet but I would feel bad for my mum.

You mum's not supportive.
Your FMIL is.
For me, the decision is easy

Can you sit down and have a heart to heart with Mum? Sometimes people just need to take the bull by the horns and be direct, tell her how you are feeling,,,, and stay up really late and watch a couple of episodes of Bridezillas, that will make you realise just how awful a time of it some Mums and sisters and HTB's and In laws to be have it. My Mum and Mum in law had died a couple of years before our wedding, so I never had any input, but I do know that for you girls out there it is important to feel that they want to be involved. Maybe really try thinking about what Mum is suggesting, in an objective way write it down, with maybe a list of pros and cons, and if you still hate her ideas then scrap the listening to her!! BUT maybe there will be a couple of gems in there..........you just don't know it yet. And by the way you don't need to have everything booked and paid for next week, try sitting down and making yourself a plan of action, and start off with simple things, that won't cost much to change if you go off in a totally different direction, Good luck!!0

Thank you, it's not that she has ideas but she puts ours down to everyone else- my relationship with my mum isn't great and it's hard to be straight to the point with her as she'd just stop speaking to me (I tried this once and she stopped speaking to me for 3 days...I was 16 lol). Just annoying as she's already told people I'm not having a certain cake ( we are- she just doesn't like it cos it's different) and that I've picked my BMs dresses, I haven't as haven't even been shopping with them yet. Sometimes I wish she'd just think before she speaks! Think it all got a bit much and needed to get it out.
Going dress shopping today thoughwith my BM who's really excited bless her! Haven't told my mum yet so will tell her after lol x
