Hi guys
I have had a very old unpaid phone bill(misspent youth!)from 6+ years ago with o2. Scotcall are now chasing me for this.
I have since (2 years ago) taken out a contract with o2.Have paid on time and had no problems.
I want to go down the statute barred route but am concernedthat because I am still with o2, they may cut me off or terminate my contract?
What are your thoughts?
Thank you

Should be OK, the debt is no longer with O2 but with ScotCall.
Hit them with a letter, I'm sure someone will come along shortly to provide you with the link to download the template0 -
I had a debt and an active contract with O2 and never had a problem.
Just keep upto date with the contract and im sure youll be fine.

O2 wont give a monkeys because they sold it to Scotcall. Also, you have been paying O2 for the last two years and been a good boy, so there is no reason to terminate your contract (as you put it) - since there is no 'termination' as such with these types of contract.
Check your credit files (all three) and ensure that the debt it truly gone. You have a couple of options options based on the results of this investigation.
1) (if the default is still there but only a few months from dropping off) - ignore Scotcall entirely.
2) (if the default is still there but will go stat-barred in a longer time) - ignore them for those months and THEN a stat-barred letter.
3) (if the default is gone) - depending on your whim, either ignore scotcall entirely or send them a stat-barred letter (aka 'pi$$ off').
You dont need a template, a (semi) polite logical letter will do the trick, they are well aware of the law despite playing dumb. Whatever you do, do not call them, do not accept calls from them and dont sign your name to anything.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
