Stuctural Calcs (for removing a wall) without seeing??

Hi All,
I am looking at getting structural calcs done for removing a load bearing wall. I posted a job on mybuilder and two companies responded. both of them are asking for pics and floor plans.

Is it a normal practice to give RSJ Calcs without actually seeing the wall/property????

The property is a typical 1930s Semi.

I've had the calculation done for the same by a structural engineer who hasn't been to the property, just from the site plans and drawings (drawn up by an architect). We have just submitted them to building control and are waiting to hear back.

    It cost me £80

    too many comps..not enough time!
