Neiman Marcus god sale (they do ship to UK)

http://www.neimanmarcus.com/search.jsp?N=4294914922&_requestid=71450&Ntt=fur

Neiman's is a high end store so don't expect items to be very cheap but those looking for high end designer items - this sale is decent sand they do ship to the UK.

I have just ordered this snakeskin print (it is actually calk skin) clutch

    Lauren Merkin
Tatum Metallic Dusted Python Clutch Bag, £246 - £160.

I know that £160 will seem a lot to some but, if you are someone is the market for designer items then I think that the deal is good.

aaargh, not sure about that. Do you have to pay the equivalent of VAT if you buy from US?

Did you not read what you were buying?
    Prepay duties and taxes
Prepay GBP 45.37 and be 100% guaranteed that there will be no additional charges due upon receipt.

Pay duties and taxes upon delivery (COD)
Pay all duties, taxes, and collection fees to shipping carrier upon receipt.

    Which did you select?
  • From HMRC website :
    All other goods

If you order or send purchased goods other than alcohol, tobacco, perfume and toilet water from a country outside the EU then you:
    • don't have to pay Excise Duty
    • may have to pay Customs Duty on goods with a value that exceeds £135
    • will have to pay import VAT on goods with a value that exceeds £15
The percentage charged is the same VAT rate that applies to similar goods that are sold in the UK.

I selected the second. Oh well, if there is an additional charge so be it. I love what I have bought.

    Thanks for the replies guys

Note to self - take more care in future!
  • As far as I know, it's still pot luck as to whether your order will be stopped or not.
I bought some bedding from Canada last year and it got through without any extra charges. On the seller's FB page, there was someone else from the UK complaining about the charges. Seems they weren't aware of the possible import VAT charges.

Thank you - I shall keep my fingers crossed but if I have to pay then okay, all problems are relative I guess.

    Thanks again Phantom FF

I must confess though for designer items the best place is Bicester Village and the second is Neimans or Saks even with customs charges.
