oil free moisturisers? do they exist?

I have always had dry sensitive skin (aged 54). the last year or so though i have noticed that the creams i have used up until now leave my face looking and feeling as if i had just come out of a sauna in a very warm country i.e. v v sweaty (sorry for the picture now being conjured up).

I literally have to use a tissue to wipe off the moisture. didn't help either when i was in turkey last year a gentleman said " i see you are very greasy, are you hot?". didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

so now getting to the reason for this post. i have been told creams for dry skin have a lot of oils in them which is causing my problem. can anyone recommend a moisturiser that has as little oil in it as poss?

Switch to a lotion, nothing that comes in a jar. Products I like and rotate are Boots essentials if you want super cheap, Boots Botanicals and Eucerin hylauronic acid wrinkle filler (excellent product).

Look for vanishing creams, these are oil free moisturisers.
  • If youre looking for something moisturising for dry skin, I suggest you try the Caudalie SOS Thirst quenching serum. It does have a hefty price tag, however if you need something a bit more budget friendly go for the bodyshop mositure serum from their vitamin E range. I rate them both highly!

Another good one is Hydrolauron moisture boost which you can get in boots. Ive heard that its good, havent tried it myself though!

Serums are more lightweight than a cream so they may help.

I would be cheeky, go to the body shop or boots and they will talk about your skin and what type of products you need FOC consultation.

I have a very oily face - used to look like a belisha beacon, I had tried everything. Went for a talk changed products and it is lots better.

  • There are plenty of moisturizers that are oil free but even the moisturizers that contains oil can be good if the oil is not sticky means it will get absorb by your skin. You can use lemon oil because it is a natural and very effective moisturizer and the best thing is that it is completely absorbed by your skin without letting you feel greasy or sticky.

Clarins do a moisturiser for warmer climates : hydra quench lotion. I find its great for when I go on holiday.

soap and glory clear here is very very light and non greasy. i have quite dry skin round my nose but very oily on my chin and round my mouth and this balances it out really well. it's about a tenner but is usually on 3 for 2 and it's honestly one of the best i've tried. doesn't leave any shine or reside on my face at all, but my skin feels a lot less tight and stays matte :-)
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
