Uniform Tax Rebate

Hi
Firstly, I know that I technically do not wear what would be classed as a 'Uniform' at work but as a Regional Sales Manager (of 13 years) I wouldn't purchase my own suits, shirts, ties, shoes, belts etc if it wasn't for the job I do.
This all comes out of my pocket, including regular dry cleaning, repairs and replacements.
My wife is a nurse, does not have to pay for her Uniform but still qualified for tax rebate on the cleaning/maintaining of.
My question is where do I, and others like me, stand on the issue of Uniform Tax Rebate when it comes to suits and sundries? I wear a certain type of relatively expensive uniform (suits + extras) that I wouldn't be able to do my job without....so it is a uniform really.
Thank you in advance for all your help and guidance.
