hi all,
New on here was working in aberdeen ,scotland but relied on my car to travel to aberdeen form glasgow.
unfortunately my car gave up on me and will cost more to repair the car than its worth.
as i could no longer use my car to get to aberdeen i had to leave my contract job that i was employed in.
I completed my cbt and was going on to do my direct access but couldnt complete the licence due to not working.
i had bought a 600cc bike which is taxed and mot'd which i intended to ride when i passed my test but now its the only mode of transport i have to look for work further a field but no full licence.
would it be possible to complete my licence with the help of the jobcentre if so how do you go about it ?.
cheers scotty

Sell your 600cc and get a 125 which you can ride with your CBT.0

Move to Aberdeen?
Or I would have thought there would be regular coaches etc between the two cites0 -
Commuting that sort of distance would be a no no on a bike in my book, sell the 600cc and get the car fixed, get digs in Aberdeen or use the train.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

have thought of that, the road up to aberdeen from Glasgow is prob one of the most dangerous roads I've been on. dangerous enough in a car never mind a 125 motorbike.0 -

moving to aberdeen isn't an options my father who lives in Glasgow has dementia and my car was need to come back and foward in emergencies which happens now and then. also house prices in aberdeen are shocking for usually old council houses. because of the oil industry up there most houses u can afford are dumps but there looking for top money. ur basically buying to be in the area. ur buying a house usually that isn't worth half what you paid. realistically. also u get ripped off for rental accommodation too top rates for real dumps. busses up and down would have added to my already high costs. when my expenses were added up accommodation, fuel, food ect for the week it was 390 quid before i even earned cash for my self. fuel was cheaper than traveling up on the bus especially when i done shift work.0 -

train more expensive that fuel. the engine has blown in my car,to sell a perfectly good working bike to pay for a new engine that is worth way more than i purchased the car for would be throwing good money after bad.0 -

How is it any more dangerous on a 125 than a 600? A 125 will easily do at least 60mph so it's not like you are puttering along at 30 slowing everyone up.0 -

But if it gets the car on the road again and you earning cash it's the right thing to do. In the long run you can't lose.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
I think you would find it harder then squeezing a fiver out of an Englishman's wallet

Seriously no harm in asking but you are likely to find the computer says no - their budget is tighter then a ducks behind. On the other hand if you had a guaranteed job offer in your hand and it was not too expensive you might get a positive response.0
