oh my head is such a mess

Today I decided to ring up the RBS ppi concerns team as I had a letter that I was being awarded X amount of money, dated 12th April 2013, as ppi on Natwest loan was mis sold to see if it been paid off the account balance (as it is currently with Wescot debt managment paying combined loan and overdraft).

They told me to ring Wescot to confirm as it had shown to be paid out. So I did. They said yes it had been paid into the account so I asked for an up to date balance of the account. They said £803.29. I was in a bit of shock, had I misheard them? So asked again and he said the same amount. I just said thank you and hung up. I was expecting something in the region of £5,500 left.

Later after picking the kids up from school, I decided to ring up Natwest and get the figures from their side. The man on the phone said that the loan and overdraft combined had £4267.93 outstanding as the PPI had been taken off the amount. This seems to tally up more in my head than what Wescot say.

So I rang Wescot back and asked for the figures again, again told £803.29 and a settlement figure of £603.

The loan has already dropped off my credit file and last overdraft balance according to noodle was £843 as of 9/4/13 so I wonder if i'm now only paying the overdraft amount.

What would you do in this situation?

I am going to write to Wescot and Natwest to ask for latest statements of the account and assess it from there but other suggestions welcome.
Been there, done that and Ebay'd the t shirt.
