  • AFAIK the company doesn't have to recognise a union you can join one anyway. My wife is in a union and the company she works for doesn't know.

If I were you I would go o the meeting take someone for moral support, make notes throughout. And hear what they have to say. If they intend to take to the next level then ensure that you gain a copy of any relevant documentation detailing what you are supposed to have done.
Stay calm though I have been in a similar situation so I really do know what I am talking about.

    Hey all,

Just an update. I attended the meeting as requested and as I thought they'd had a log of everything I'd done, which was completely unintentional on my part. If I'd have known you had to note an account saying you had released a call I'd have done it, I have nothing to lose. I also stated I have nothing to gain, infact its to my detriment if I release calls as I take more and my sales rate suffers as part of that. They just kept saying 'Do you think it's acceptable to release x number of calls over three months?' yet gave it in no sort of context. I had to ask them how many calls I'd taken as they didn't get that information prior to the meeting.
Then I've requested the departmental average for call release as I think mine at 3.5% is low and they have refused to discuss providing it over the phone and said I have to raise it in the meeting which I feel is inappropriate and should have been given to me before as if I am on or below an average then I see no reason for their disciplinary.

Anyway, I've had two job interviews during my suspension, been offered one and have a further interview. So it's not all bad. Every intention of walking into their meeting and just quitting now...I've seen two much better companies to work for!

Bear in mind that if you resign, you'll be effectively resigning under a DP process and whilst it's not as bad as being sacked for failing to carry out your role, you're best to effectively ride it out, rebuffing them at every attempt.

They cannot conclusively prove that you released the call, as opposed to a dropped signal, so fight them the whole way, appeals and all. They'll not win.

What they have as 'evidence' is the original call they pulled me into the meeting for. Replaying the call and what I did on screen shows about a minute of the call where the customers signal goes and I stay on the line...then after that minute I release it. Then the next log on their report shows me calling the customer straight back and then after that another call to the customers landline.

I should be getting a letter tomorrow with all their evidence in it which I'm aware of and so I'll be going to the meeting and basically quitting. As I fine well know, I won't win, they're out to get me due to the other things which I consider to be bullying and I'd rather not be dismissed even if my working record leaves a disciplinary pending on it.
