That's okay. You were expecting everything to be yellow gold, but it turns out the setting is platinum.

Other posters were posting about white gold turning yellow, which is not what you said was happening.

How bizarre to say this - the 3 diamonds in my (high street jewellers) 18ct engagement ring are set in platinum shoulders, and my mum's 18ct engagement ring also has platinum settings for the diamonds - from 1952. Oh, and her 1954 wedding bans is 18ct and platinum.
