Express Insurance and Scotcall

Hi any advice gratefully received.
We had a policy with Express Insurance which we stopped in July 2012. Apparently we rang for a quote to cancel but never cancelled.
Then we got several letters in July about the outstanding payment and cancellation fee. Have no record of these but may have happened.
Anyway nothing from July last year until today when we recieved an email form Scotcall saying they had taken on the debt and that Express insurance were disappointed we have not responded to the letters.
Then stating if we did not get in touch with them they would call at our home!!
Debt is made up of £50 cancellation charge??
£24.00 monthly payment missed
£30 other charges
I have read some info on Scotcall and have no intention of dealing with them other to to send one written reply basically telling to them to stuff their veiled threats up their testerone filled backsides.
I have spoken to Express and found out the above details. They initially said they had passed the debt on and could not deal with us, then it changed to well we could take a payment for the balance. I said I am not dealing with Scotcall and my wife is upset with the out of the blue email.
Express rang back and have now said if we prove we took on other insurance , which we didn't, they may be able to do something.
Sorry about the length of email but I am raging...
Thank you
