Thursday 23rd May - What small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning all, yesterday was a manic and not so DFW day.

    Yesterday:
    7 am - Spin class
    10am Yoga

    Friends for coffee
Meet other friend at rather expensive hotel for coffee to sit in the sun and had a latte and mineral water
Metafit and Kettlebells class back to back
Cinema to see the great Gatsby with my daughter and my friend so all in all a very fun but costly day at 3 classes costing a fiver each, a fiver on coffee on water and nearly £7 for the cinema, although I did sit and eat my own post workout granola and yogurt !

    Today :
Was up early today for another 7 am spin class so another fivre there, but as I have started going regularly again have enquired into the cost of joining on the corporate scheme and I will deffo get my moneys worth.

Checked banking - dire but got fuel for the next three shifts and the CSA payment is showing due to go in tomorrow thank goodness.

Need to do a little food shop for essentials at AL*I and then that's me until its time to go to work on a 1400 -0000 shift the first of three shifts before a week of for half term. Yay !

Have a brilliant day everyone, much love and hugs S x

    Morning everyone

I have dipped in and out of this thread before, but I really need to focus and get things done at the moment. OH and I are moving in July and everything is such a mess. I keep thinking I've got loads of time, but I reckon July will creep up on me and I'll still be unpacked and unprepared. I was trying to do lists on my diary, but I think I'll be more accountable on here.

Katy_ann - Thanks for starting the thread, enjoy your day off and catch up with your friend :)

Stacy - even just reading about all those classes tires me out!! What was The Great Gatsby like? I've heard the 3D is really good, but the story is not so great.

Starnac - it's quite cold here today too, but at least it's not raining.

    Today I will be doing:

    Morning meds - Done
    Evening meds
    School run 1 - Done
    School run 2
    Do a wash
Start sorting out the living room (there's stuff everywhere!!)
Put away the pile of clothes in the bedroom
Get the chest of drawers out of the wardrobe so I can put it on Gumtree
Put unsold stuff back on Gumtree
    Sort out carboot stuff

    Have a great day everyone

Yeah we watched it in 3D, I am not really a fan of 3D films but I was outvoted by my daughter and friend. As you say the storyline wasn't the most imaginative and a little predictable, but I enjoyed the soundtrack to it and two hours of Leonardio di Caprio was easy on the eye :rotfl:

I have just taken a few hours off tonight so now finishing at 9 instead of midnight, home to bed a little earlier tonight and no plans for any classes tomorrow so a bit of a lie in too !

    Morning,

Thanks for starting the thread katy_ann.
DNM hope your new job is going ok.

Well some good news today. I'm just back from an interview with a temping agency and it went really well. They are going to put me on their books so I may have some work soon, subject to references etc. (Don't get me started on the whole references thing...) I had to sit a typing test which I wasn't expecting but I came in at 60wpm so I was pleased with that. The last time my typing speed was tested was 20 years ago on a manual typewriter.

    Today I will:

    1. Clean the house using products from stores. Done
    2. Washing out on the rotary line. Done
    3. Read library books about gardening. Done
    4. Do Nectar AdPoints, OnePoll and Ipsos.
    5. Check online banking. Done
    6. Check Quidco/TopCashBack for payments.
    MONEY-SAVING TIP FOR GARDENERS:
    1. Comfrey fertilizer: You can use comfrey leaves to make a good balanced organic fertiliser for free.(

    Afternoon all,
Have almost finished my job list today, so kettle is on for cup of tea & some bum -in-chair-time. Money-saving activity today:
*Potted up more plants for sister......am swapping spare plants for a large over-mantel mirror.
*Dinner tonight already made (last of the rubber chicken).
*Lentil soup made in slow cooker using home-made ham stock from the freezer.
*Friend's birthday presents wrapped using paper/labels/ribbon etc from my big crate of recycled wrappings. Looks very pretty!
    *Did a couple of surveys.
*Wrapped ebay parcel as did manage to extract payment from buyer yesterday.
    *Tomorrow's packed lunch made.
*Picked rhubarb & baked rhubarb & ginger loaf cake for tomorrow's guests.
*Cleaned whole house using the usual stingy amount of diluted Stardrops.
*Watered greenhouse veggies & checked for baddies/problems. Anchored down the mini polytunnels as it's windy here today.
*Read booklet on composting. (www.recyclenow.com/compost) I didn't learn anything new, but good to know we're doing things right. Nice booklet.
*Magazines got together for my Mum, as we'll swap some so we both get a few new ones to read.
    Still to do:
*Do new library list of books/audiobooks I want to read, as I've almost got to the end of my last stash.
    Have a good day, everyone,

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Thanks for starting the thread Katy Ann and well done on your ISA savings, debt slaying etc.

Ally - Hope some good comes of your agency appointment.

Pernicious - I realised you and I have almost the same amount of debt repayment to go, we are debt buddies!

So me today. NSD! Horray. Thats 2 this week I think. OH gets paid tommorow so will be adding to the emergency fund, that feels good to see that going up.

We have our MOT to pay for in June, and hoping nothing will be wrong with the car (its pretty ancient though so there may well be the odd thing)

I have quite a bit of business booked for June which is a plus. There is a 2nd hand uniform sale for my sons new school then as well, so will be going along to that for some bargains.

Right well, night all, hope its a peaceful one.
