Help me make a decision

Options
Hi everyone

I need a new front door but............

It will will take me about 3 months to save up for one.

Should I stop making over payments on my debt to save or should I wait until I'm debt free to pay for it?

My remaining debt is £6000 with 6.5% interest and I estimate will take me 1 year to pay off. I can easily afford the minimum payments.

My front door really does need replacing - it's an old wooden door that is in terrible condition. There have been 2 burglaries in my road recently and it's got me worried about security.

I'm not sure if I'm worrying about nothing or just realised how terrible my door looks.

What do you think?

If its insecure get it fixed, a burglary is more expensive & you may not be insured if its that bad

I would get a new door as well. As long as you are paying all your minimum payments for the next month or so then its better not to get burgled. That will be a lot more hassle and you would lose more. It will only take a month or so longer to pay off your debts.

If its in such a condition that it's insecure it may invalidate your insurance, so long as you continue with your min payments, get it replaced - and get a decent one with good locks.

    Thanks for your replies.
Think I'll get that new door and insurance is a good point.
