                    Hi
We're going to Spain in August and rather than take all cash we would like to take some money on a card. However, we do not have a credit card and not sure how safe it is to use debit card abroad. I've heard of a card that you can deposit money onto, so seems safer but not sure how to get it and how it works. Can anyone help please.
Thanks:cool:

I really like my pre-paid travel money cards. The Caxton FX card is free to use and draw cash out abroad and it's a VISA so you can use it everywhere you can use a VISA.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

Sorry NiftyDigits, I've only just started to use this website and was struggling to find my subject matter so posted the question instead. I'll have another look around, see what I can find.
Thanks Kynthia, that info is really useful, I'll look at that card, sounds like it's just what I need 0 0

There is no totally safe way of using a card abroad. Just like at home it can be lost, stolen, blocked, cloned or refused. Whichever card you take always take a backup for emergencies.
A pre-paid debit card is a good idea as it is separate from your main bank account.
For a pre-paid card, Caxton is my card of choice and I have used it all over the world. Their customer services are also excellent whenever I've had to call them. I once had my card blocked for some reason and they sorted it out immediately over the phone.
However, I'm switching more of my overseas spending to a Halifax Clarity credit card. Used properly, it's about as cheap as you can get.0

No need to struggle. You found your way here and flights, currency... is also nearby.
If you don't take the time to look properly, you will miss out.
Caxton would only be my choice is a VISA card was necessary.0
