our current deal with the halifax, 2 yr fixed 4.99, ends in august. looking for new fixed rate or discount to move to then. phoned broker today (whole of market) whose best 2 yr deal was fixed 5.34 with £999 set up cost, free valuation and £250 towards legal fees. monthly payment would be £1156.
looking at internet comparison sites, I didn't think this was a great deal. are these sites generally up to date with rates and deals? I'm feeling very lost!
house value 380000
mortgage for 187000, 70000 interest only, rest repayment
joint income 68000
no credit problems or loans.
any advice welcome

one of the cashback mortgage finder sites had B& b for 4.99, though the set up fee was 1499. not sure about legal and valuation. mortgage genie has 5.29 with free legal and valuation, 999 set up fee (halifax). Is it easy enough to do it through these sites? another question: since my existing mortage is with the halifax (they wont review my mortgage til next month) can i take another halifax mortgage through one of these sites?0

HAlifax have a specific range of products for existing customers, so you may not be able to get what they offer new borrowers anyway.
Cheapest 2 year rate will be 4.74% but huge arrangment fees. You need to look at the true cost over the fixed period - more likely to be around 5.5%I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser code of conduct.
