Endowment matured. Did it do well or not?

Just curious to know if you think this policy did well.

At the time, 25 years ago, Standard Life was supposedly the best endowment going.

Payments £27.70 per month, for 25 years.

Payout £14518.88, including a mortgage promise payment of £624.

Expected payout originally (and joint life cover) was £21,200.

I make that a return of about 4.13%.

    You need to allow for the fact that life assurance cover was included in the premium. So arguably the net return wasn't terrible.

    Very true. I didn't think of that. Easy to say in retrospect that we didn't need it.
