Hello,
We have recently been approved a mortgage with the Halifax (yay!) and our solicitors are now requesting searches to be done etc.
Our property is worth £293,000 and we need a deposit of £32,400. We have been savings for about a year now and when we put our full mortgage application in we advised that my parents would be gifting us £15,000 towards the deposit. This was including furniture etc that we would need for the house.
At that time we needed £15,000 but we now only require around £7000 from my parents for the rest of the deposit, we have saved the other £25,500 ourselves.
The solicitors are now asking for proof of deposit from my parents which shows the money from their account showing the funds and then they want to see the transfer to my account showing my statement with the money received in, which is fine! However, we sent them the original letter that we sent to the bank advising my parents would be lending us £15,000. Now this full amount isn't required as we have put our heads down for the last three months and saved literally everything from our wages, will the solicitors need to see the full amount of £15,000 as originally stated or just the amount needed for the deposit (£7,000) being transferred?
Thank you in advance :-)

No, just advise Halifax that the parents gifted deposit has reduced to 7k, and then follow the procedures your Solicitor has advised, just evidencing and transferring the 7k as agreed.
Hope this helps
