Over here its found everywhere - yellow cartons, in with the milk. But then wheaten and scones are traditional breads made daily here

I'm sure if you ask a member of staff, they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Its with the cream the store I work in, im sure this very same question has been asked.

Not sure what you can use as a substitute.

OP your store might not even stock it, if you want it ask 1 of the staff if they can show you where it is.
  • I use half milk, half natural yogurt because I could never find buttermilk when I needed it and it works just as well. I find buttermilk expensive anyway.
  • Why not buy some double cream, spin it up in a mixer or food processor. You'll get butter and buttermilk - about 1/2 and 1/2.
If you use a mixer put some clingfilm on top of bowl as when it turns into butter the buttermilk splashes.

It's usually with the cream and Waitrose have it surprisingly cheaply!

In my Sainsbury's it's with the creme fraiche rather than the milk. I've used the Jersey Rich Milk before now, with a squeeze of lemon juice.

A plain yogurt & milk can be a good substitute for buttermilk.
