i have founs since i have stopped shopping in supermarkets.... my waste has totally dropped like a lead balloon.....

i stopped shopping in supermarkets because of their ethics...and squeezing and dictating to our farmers about pricing etc.......and the way they are 'training' us to habbit shop with their offers etc....

so i decided enough was enough and i would try and stop shopping in them.......

since i have stopped and bought most of my shopping in local/independant shops... not only have my shopping bill gone down.....( only buying what i want/need) my waste has gone right down... no excess packaging... cartons etc....

yes i there is stuff being recycled... tins bottles etc.....

my fruit/veg just goes straight into a cardboard box
( which them after weeks of use gets broken up and put into the compost bin)

yes ok the bags my meat is put into at the butchers is waste....( but on plastic or poylstyren trays etc)

and cakes and busicuits i bake from scratch.. so no packaging involved....

bread.. if i dont have it sliced no bag.... and if i do have it sliced i take the bread bag back to be used again and gain....

p personally think that if you buy something from a shop/supermarkets.... they should have an obligation to take the packaging back.....

maybe that way manufacturers and big supermarkets/shops will start thinking about excess packaging....
