http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/10071951/Europe-faces-lost-decade-says-Mark-Carney.htmlIn words that will underline his status as a monetary activist and fuel speculation that he will try to relaunch quantitative easing (QE) when he arrives in the UK, Mr Carney applauded Japan’s “bold policy experiment” to boost dramatically its own QE programme.
He said: “Europe can draw lessons from Japan on the dangers of half measures... Europe remains in recession. Deep challenges persist in its financial system. Without sustained and significant reforms, a decade of stagnation threatens.”

What a lamentable situation we have that we have to pander to a foreigner to come and run the finances of this country. Is there no one in the UK who can take on this role?
Why should he be bothered if it all goes wrong? He will just jet back to Canada Business class of course and leave the mess behind. He has no vested interest in this country.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
I believe even he has said that the economy he is leaving is in great danger of high inflation and a property bubble, which he finds very worrying.grizzly1911 wrote: »Tried most other things why no go for the gamble, he won't be here to pick up the pieces.

massive QE result will be high inflation, shares prices will rocket, and so will house prices too0

How will people that can't afford to buy houses or raise deposits to even think about buying push up prices (outside of London and the SE).
High inflation will make disposable income even tighter."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

One would suppose that houses prices are pushed up by buyers paying more.0 -

Looks like Europe will be experimenting with deflation before we are so we can watch what happens from over the fence.
Here inflation has fallen to 2.4% and likely (IMO) to undershoot the 2.0% target sometime soon. The economy is picking up but there are few signs that it's in danger of overheating (to say the least).
More QE seems inevitable.0 -

If they can't afford the finance it begs the question how they will afford to pay, ever more, nationwide."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I wonder how the next round of energy increases and student loans costs will affect the index? Interesting that food still doesn't seem to be stabilising - fresh fruit and veg are considerably more than 12 months ago."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop...
