Any Job opportunities

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone can help me, yesturday 20.05.2013 I had appointment with my work programme advicer and she said I need to apply for any job and not just jobs what I am looking for like retail, Packer and Warehouse which I am applying on a day to day basis on universal jobmatch anyway she said I need to get any job like for example cleaning work and I told her that I am not looking for cleaning work and she said it doesn't matter as I need to apply for any job, is she right that I need to apply for any jobs besides packer, warehouse and retail?

Also say if I get a cleaning Job will I get help with my rent? as everyone knows a cleaning job is not a lot of wage, at the moment I get housing benefit for my rent which pays all of it as I am currently on JSA.

Or if people get a job will people not be entitled to housing benefit?

Hope for some help regarding these thanks. :)

Regards
Shaun

Sounds like your advisor is trying to sanction you. Just do as she says, and apply for cleaning jobs etc.

Then when you get an interview, there's nothing stopping you from explaining you just see the cleaning job etc, (i.e. ask if you'll be allowed time off for job interviews ;) ) as a way of marking time until your ideal position comes up, also address them as mate etc etc etc.

I very much doubt any employer is going to employ somebody who will immediately be looking for something else.

However, if you do decide to take a cleaning job (after all, it's gotta be better than being sat around all day), then you'll still be entitled to housing benefit etc. Personally, if I were in your situation, I'd take the cleaning job. But of course it's your call, and I've told you how to play the system if you must.

    Good luck! xx
