High Body Fat %

it was the UKBioBank http://www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/
I went on a weighing machine and was told to hold onto two handles which I think measures the electrical resistance through the body.
Never heard of them. Sounds like it was a bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) which usually give a good estimate. I wouldn't go by a single measurement though. Many reasons why it could be innaccurate.
I usually measure mine weekly, inputting the results into excel so I can create a graph to monitor trends over time.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Mmm interesting indeed, also read
Dehydration is a recognized factor affecting BIA measurements as it causes an increase in the body's electrical resistance, so has been measured to cause a 5 kg underestimation of fat-free mass i.e. an overestimation of body fat.[3]
That proves I must have been dehydrated!!!0 -

With all due respect I'll stick to reading scientifically based evidence journals than an internet blog“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Ha ha!
Can you suggest any.0 -

How about ACSM, BJSM, JHSE etc not to mention all the scientific papers and peer reviews that have been published in sports & exercise physiology and biomechanics disciplines.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

But you would dismiss the blog as a source of information out of hand?
Did you check the works that the author referenced? They look pretty solid to me... as do the author's academic qualifications and list of publications.0 -

The more tests you have done the more you have to worry about.. You're perfectly slim, perfectly healthy but now this clever test has got you panicking.0

I am a 5'6'' female weighing 9st 4lbs and very slim! BUT have just been told I have 36% body fat!!
I do a lot of walking but don't have time for gyms etc as I work away a lot....
Anyone know what I should do? anyone else found themselves in the same predicament? if exercise is the key - what type?
Thanks (from a slim fatty!)
I'm 5'4, and before I lost 3 stone that's what my body fat % was. The last time I had it measured (at least 3 months ago), it was 29% and I've lost even more weight/fat since so I'd agree with everyone else who says it was wrong.0
