Hi, I received a letter from Lowell demanding I make payment of £90 for a Capital One credit card from 2003. I called Lowell and and after confirming my details I told them I could not remember ever having a credit card with Capital One..
They had the account number from the Capital One account so I asked them to send out the original credit agreement...
A week passed and I received a letter from Lowell with a credit agreement from capital One with my signature, It was indeed my signature but I cannot ever remember having a capital one card.
I now have an Agency called Red calling me asking me to contact them with a ref no..
I know its only £90 but i'm in the process of buying my 1st house at the moment, I have a good credit score with Experian and Equifax and i'm worried if I contact either of these again they will put a default on my credit file whether I pay or not!!!
Any help would be appreciated as to which course of action I should take..

So even tho they have sent the orig credit agreement, I should still ignore them. Also, are they allowed to put a default on my account from a debt of over 10 years old??0

It's statue barred. Lowell or Red can just shove the debt where the sun does not shine. They are not allowed to put a default on your credit file after all this time.Still rolling rolling rolling......

Banks have blown billions of pounds had bailouts and no one is held accountable. Yet a normal working class person who owes very little is pursued for the smallest of amounts...Doesn't make sense!!
Thank you both for your help...0 -
