Pension Release- legal cash advance/loan

Hi,
I am 54 and have an old personal pension plan with a transfer value of around £40,000
Now when I reach 55 in January 2014 I will be legally able to access 25% of this tax free.
The question is I could really do with some of that now and wondered if anyone knew of any legal schemes where I would be able to access a loan and use the upcoming payment as collateral?
I should add that although looking hard for work I am currently not in employment, hence why I am looking at ways to acess cash.
Naturally I will not go down the road of pension liberation etc as I am not looking to get ripped off or maybe have future problems with HMRC.
Bottom line is can this asset help me today with my immediate needs?
Thanks for any advice you can offer
