hi
myslef and my wife are looking to remortgage as tie in period with halifax is about to end in august so will have no early repayment charge but rate will go to standard variable of 7.25
i didnt think we'd have any problem getting remtg with ing on the 5.39 no fee fixed rate no penalty deal, only looking for 90k, house worth 160k, my income 23k wifes 20k, i have about 6k cc ostandings no loans all facilities paid well on credit file, wife has no loans about 2k cc ostandings but surprisingly failed on credit score basis earlier in month and have not attempted again since.
could anyone confirm the likelihood of this is due to my wifes maiden name still being on all facilities as only recently married (in process of chaging evewrything over now), or from my circumstances does anyone else have any ideas why may have been declined.
would anyone be able to give any tips on a good mortgage detail, should i try to rearrange one with halifax when goes to standard variable?
thanks

You should see what Halifax offer you first
Then you should look at what else is out there, as the are plenty deals that are better than standard variable rate
Your wife changing name should not be a problem - just need a copy of your marriage certificate.
Have you got copies of your credit files from Equifax or Experian? Have you missed any payments?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. You should be perfectly fine then
You should be able to find the pick of the rates - there are plenty of compariosn sites if you feel confident enough to go it alone
You may want to get some information on why the other credit application may have been declined, you may simply have been outside of lending criteria (although your figures look fine)I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
