Ok, so I am desperate to get on the housing ladder via the HELP to buy scheme.
I've tried halifax but they need a 15% deposit, which I don't have. I only have a 5% deposit. I am now trying with Natwest.
If natwest won't accept me, where can I go from there. I really want this house, and I am willing to do anything it takes. I just czan't increase the £7500 deposit I already have.
I have good credit history, in the sense of no CCJS, missed payments, defaults, the only real negative is just the amount of credit searches on file.

Halifax is topping out at 85% on a soft search DIP?
Are you sure there's nothing else in your credit history?

I have stopped adding searches and coming up to three months now.0 -
I still think the Halifax has been keyed incorrectly, as based upon what you have said was very surprised with the outcome.
I would be further surprised if Natwest will lend where Halifax would not, error on the original application not withstanding.I am a Mortgage Broker

I am keying two or three HTB apps on the Halifax system every day and the only time it fails is where I key something incorrectly. It's very easy to leave a drop-down open, then inadvertently alter the data simply by scrolling down the page to a later question.
Fortunately, it's dead easy to change something.
I have yet to have a fail at DIP stage, probably in the last six months and these are 75%/20%/5% shared equity cases, previously on FirstBuy, now on Help To Buy.
Do you have any other issues, such as strange employment, or residence?I am a mortgage broker. kingstreet/Dave Ham - Not quite sure what you are both saying, here. Are you saying that you would expect Halifax to lend to the OP witha 5% deposit?0

Potentially yes, my point (and I think Kings is the same) is that to get this restriction on this scheme at DIP stage is unusual.
I cannot recall the exact situation on the original thread, although recall saying that it could be human error on the Halifax situation.I am a Mortgage Broker

Nothing else at on CRA files. Call credit default has been removed also. I checked call credit, equifax and experian.
I believe the soft search is topping out at 15%. Because the check is done over the phone, I can't really see exactly what infomation is being inputted.I still think the Halifax has been keyed incorrectly, as based upon what you have said was very surprised with the outcome.

I am considering something must not have been inputted correctly on the system. First try was a straight out decline, second time a refer and I needed a 15% deposit.0 -

Nope, no strange employment issues at all, or residence. Employed full time, Working in HR, lived at address for over 10 years.
Tbh, i really think it's best to phone up again today and see exactly what has been inputted into the application, so I know for sure human error can be ruled out.0 -
I would ask them to read out what was inputted, although to be honest you may not notice the error as some would only be spotted by someone who knows their way around the system.
You are pot luck at the call centre, go to a branch and they will love to get one through the centre got wrong.
Also you can eyeball the advisor and ask sensible questions like "been doing this job long" to take a view on experienceI am a Mortgage Broker
