chasing up my DBS

Hi everyone,

Ive just contacted the DBS regarding my application and they are saying that its my local police that I am waiting for now to get my DBS completed.

Is it possible to contact the police direct and chase this up or should I just wait??

    Hello :)

A DBS check goes through a series of stages. Your local police station are unlikely to have a clue, it goes through a head office (or so I am led to believe).

I would suggest just waiting a bit, you'll get a copy when the employer does :)

Police searches are normally nearer the end of the process, so hopefully it shouldn't be too long for you! Best of luck :)

I'm not sure if this has changed recently because I don't deal with DBS checks any more but there is a procedure for chasing them and there used to a be a time limit before which they wouldn't chase a disclosure - I think it was 51 days. Up until the time limit has expired unfortunately you just have to wait. You calling the police yourself to chase it may be counter productive so I wouldn't recommend it.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

Welcome to the wonderful world of services contracted out by Government to Capita and others on the mistaken basis that the private sector is more interested in efficiency than profit.

Do you have your form reference number? You'll find it easier to chase it up if you kept a note of it. Look on the DBS website.
