Notice period based on signed contract?

Hi

When I first started my job about 8 years ago, I received a contract which I signed (one copy for me and one for employer). The contract states for periods of employment exceeding 3 years, 2 weeks notice has to be given.

Since then my employer amended the contract for any new staff members that joined the company saying they require a month's notice.

Now my question is, because my contract has not been updated or Ive not been given a new contract, does that mean that I am still only required to give two week's notice even though technically the company have changed their policy after I started?

Thanks!

If you contract says 2 weeks and you've not agreed to anything else, then 2 weeks it is.

Sometimes companies have these blanket terms in a handbook or supplimetory document that they update from time to time.

if these exist it may be that your terms could have changed.

If just the original contract then I think you can stick to 2 weeks.

NOTE: The company has to give 1 week per years service upto 12 years/weeks.

I suppose a union with collective bargaining could also agree a change on your behalf - not sure really
I would have thought any amendment that affected you - however it was brought in - would have been followed up with paperwork though, so I reckon you're good for 2 weeks.
