    I'm ok thanks, probably fed up with the way this forum board is, I only commented on this thread because I felt sorry for someone, it just turned out to be a complete waste of time.

    It's interesting to note that in January 2013 both CPI and RPI actually fell; I don't recall anyone posting about it.

    Of course the annual rate of inflation showed a year on year increase.

    Yes, that CPI at +2.4% means that prices have actually increased over the past year :) My point was that fuel prices have actually dropped, not just their rate of increase.

    OK, we all now understand that if prices increase by 2.4% they are higher than last year, thanks for that.
    Edit:
    It is not necessarily true month on month, prices could have fallen from last month but still show an annual increase, so prices would actually be falling.

    Are you really that stupid that you don't realise that this is rather obvious? What is your next revelation, that Sunday follows Saturday?

    Doesn't seem quite so obvious from your earlier post?
    They aren't getting cheaper, the rate at which they are increasing is falling (ie they are still going up in price, but at a rate less than they were previously).
    My point is that it may be that prices are currently increasing but it is not a given.
