Pitman Training

I am thinking of doing an audio transcription course with Pitman Training. Has anyone done this course? Or other training with Pitman?

The course is really expensive, but I can't find any others, plus I know Pitmans has a good name so the certificate will help.

Any feedback welcome.

Thanks.

  • I've not done that training, but I have been on other Pitman courses and found them good (relevance, quality of teaching, quality of teaching materials etc). I cannot comment on the cost as the courses that I have done with them were commissioned by my then employer (approx 4/5 years ago).

Is the course relevant to your current employment? If so ask your employers advice. If it is in the hopes that it will help you get a new job, then either try and ask someone working in that area for advice on the course/other courses, and/or check person specs for potential jobs out there to see if they state any specific courses that need to be completed in audio transcription.

    Hi,

Thanks for your feedback on Pitman.

I am working for an employer, but the course has no relevance so I will have to pay for it myself.

I have had a 'go' at transcribing years ago, and I have a pedal (which I just rediscovered!). I applied, did a test, got the work, bought the pedal sent the company my crb as requested, then never heard from them again!

The reason I want to do a course is that I'd just like to get some practice in - I really can't remember much it was a long time ago.

    Thanks.
