Just wondered would one of you mortgage advisors give me some blunt advice if if possible.
I have a crap credit rating in that I had defaults to pay back for some years from 2004, the last default was in January 2008, which I have a notice of correction on, as technically it was defaulted in 2004 and the date this company are using is the date they bought the debt over at. Anyway I paid all the debts back by 2010 bar one. There was 1 company MBNA who on my last payment (sept 2012) switched me to idem securities in September 2012, who registered an arrangement to pay, I cleared it before I'd even got the paperwork
Currently I have 2 bank accounts, one held for 10 years and one for 2 years which is a reward account. I have a next directory and 1 credit card, total balances of debt £1800 which I intend to have cleared in July, these were wedding related last month.
I'm in my job over 10 years and earn £21k.
I'm recently married, my husband is the sole mortgage holder as I couldn't get a mortgage 3 years ago when we wanted to buy. He's a perfect credit score, has a credit card and pays it back and never lets it go over £1000 ever.
He's recently started a new job, is now paid in euros which is €48k, we're trying to work out when realistically we might be able to get a joint mortgage. Taking into account his new wage in a different currency, his new job status, his marital status. I'm 31, he's 30. * forgot to add we have 2 kids, that's us done too!
We're trying to calculate when we could move, taking into consideration saving and also our eventual joint affordability.
Would love some of your opinions if you wouldn't mind, as we haven't a clue but would like an idea for a goal and something to plan for

Hi there,
If this was a property in England & Wales, depending upon your deposit % you could potentially achieve a mortgage now.
Many of the non-highstreet lenders I would be thinking do not lend in Northern Ireland and judging from your details I think you may be??
If so, would attack a decent, recommended local broker as they should have access to some NI based, local financial institutions and will be better placed to give formal advice.
Sorry cannot be a bit more specific.I am a Mortgage Broker
You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Broker, so you need to take my word for it.This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser code of conduct. Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as financial advice.0 -
