Help I think Avon have ruined my life !!

Hi wondering if anyone can help!!
basically I signed up for Avon a while ago, I returned 2 boxes worth of products to them in feb 2011, they then minuses these off the bill which was fine.. Then in late April 2011 they added the 2 boxes worth of charges back on the bill again! I wrote to them 1st June 11 to dispute this, they replied that they never got my returned products. I sent them a scan of a form which their delivery driver signed to confirm the products were returned. They then sent a further 3 debt letters to me, with the WRONG amount on. I was waiting for them to write to me again with the adjusted bill... then in Sept 2011 they sent me an adjusted bill, I paid full balance on 11 Oct 11.
I just checked my credit file and it says I am a delinquent because I paid 4 months late to Avon?! I did pay but I was waiting for them to correct their mistake on my bill. I've now been denied a mortgage which knocked a further 30 points off my credit score. I wrote to Avon today
Just wondering if anyone's got any advice, do I have a leg to stand on? What if Avon refuse to help?
Meanwhile the new house company want me to sort a mortgage ASAP
I don't want to loose my house because of this stupid company
Thanks in advance ..

I think you have a good case, if indeed you can prove all of what you have said.
You need to confirm what sort of agreement you had with Avon. As most people don't sell Avon it's hard to know what this was, compared with a bank account or like.
If it's a simple credit agreement just confirm this and people will be able to help :-)0 -
It's a credit agreement I think.
You order products, it comes in the post, they send you a bill, then you have say 7 days to pay it
I have lots of emails printed showing I contacted them
I don't know if they will amend my credit file info or not, as someone told me it costs them money to do so 0 -
Oh and thanks for replying

You need to complain to Avon, in writing stating all the facts and asking for the adverse credit information removed.
See what you get back.
After that, if they refuse, you can refer to FOS, but that can take months. You should be able to get some compensation, but not a lot compared to not getting a mortgage.
You tried the mortgage board? apparently some experts on there regarding mortgages with adverse credit ratings.:beer:0 -
Thank you, I wrote into them on Tuesday via recorded delivery (signed for) so awaiting a reply.
I hope they just remove it, I have a broker who said he can offer us a special mortgage for those who have bad credit but I feel I should not have to pay a higher rate for something that is not really my fault.0 -
Believe you can add a notice of correction to your credit record - this is experian but I think the rest do the same
