How do you redeem the Amazon gift cards on this site?

I clicked on the icon to redeem £1 and put my mobile number in. I got a 5 digit code sent to me which I typed in and it said it was verified. But what's the next step?
I went into the Amazon section where you apply a gift card to your account but the 5 digit code was too short so I assume I'm missing a step?
