Yes, I was wondering about that myself. The GAA are not normally so closed minded about fixture dates.0

I'm not sure it'll be lockdown. The Lough Erne resort is well off the beaten track isn't it? Nowhere near where the game is being held? So by my way of thinking people using the roads to get to Enniskillen won't be affected unless they peel off and head for the resort?
I'd say it's a poor choice of date but if there were going to be any real objections the PSNI would raise them with the GAA. Of course that could still happen.0 -

Sorry but you must not be from Enniskillen!! Yes the lough erne is out of town but we have been in lock down for some time now:mad: around all of Fermanagh Not only with police & checkpoints but with road works, painters, power washing fence erecting & the list could go on!!! On my way home today on a short stretch going along the back of the town I counted 12 painters vans not to mention various other vans & council lorries etc. The road around Brewster park at the minute has been dug up to be relayed again next week. Apart from the disruption with traffic jams etc now they are talking about us having no network phone coverage the week leading up to the G8!!!
They will deffo have to look at this date again!
My thing is they are spending all this money now to clean up the town but what happens afterwards when the money has all gone & the protesters have the wrecked everywhere Who is going to tidy our lovely Fermanagh up?????
Sorry rant over!!!!0 -
Sorry Saucepanhead and you're right, I'm not from Enniskillen although I've been there several times recently. I was simply weighing up the location of the Lough Erne Resort against it's proximity (or lack of it) to Enniskillen. I totally forgot they'd be using the town as a showcase too.
The mobile thing is a right nuisance.
In thinking about it I'm wondering if all of this would put supporters off going to the game which is a shame because the sport needs the gate.0 -
perhaps the G8 will change there dates"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

It's worth a try. It is an inter-Provincial game!0
