Hi all
I am in the process of setting up a cupcake business and finding insurance a bit of a minefield. I know I have to get public liability insurance however when I go on the usual comparison sites it doesnt have a suitable category for me to search.
Can anyone help?
I have looked on the sugarcraft guild website as they offer insurance but it appears it is only for meetings etc doesnt actually cover new businesses
Thanks in advance
Joanne

There are specialist companies for that type of insurance - you won't find them on comparison sites for that reason. Try National Market Traders' Association, Combined Market Traders Insurance and Ian Wallace.
You will need public liabiilty insurance and product insurance. The first is cover against accidents relating to where you carry on your business (eg table collapses on somebody, somebody is injured when your market tent collapses), the second one would be cover against bad ingredients/allergic reactions and being sued for product-specific issues.0 -
Most of the online insurances are really not worth, even though they are cheap. I've spoke with an insurance agent recently and he told me that such insurance is just ridiculous.0
