credit files ???

I'm a discharged bankrupt and I have started checking my credit files so I can get my house in order, However Experian don't show a record of me as bankrupt but the other 2 do, my score is high which is great and the history is limited to the last 3/4 years post bankruptcy, Is this normal? should I ask Experian ?

depends how long you have been discharged, if 6 years then none should be showing it, if not then I bet it's there and you have just missed it, no harm in asking.

Oh and the score is just a thing the rating agencies do to give you an idea of likelyhood of getting credit, the creditors use a whole different system.

Experian should have details of your BR. They get details of all BR orders as a matter of course.

It's usually just that for some reason they haven't matched the order against your file/details. Sometimes that is due to addresses on the order and that Experian have being slightly different, so automatic systems don't match the two together.

Experian credit score is irrelevant, and what is important is what people searching your file see as factual info. It's entirely possible that a potential creditor would see the BR, as each report is generated "on the fly" based on the info the creditor provides from the application, so if something corrects itself then it might show to them.

Whether you query with Experian is up to you. The BR being missing does indicate that something is wrong somewhere with the info Experian have, or a glitch in the system. In either case, if me I would want to get it sorted, as you never know when something wrong can bite you on the backside or make things difficult. I would say it's better to have your report showing the data accurately.

  • Thanks fermi and sniggings I will chase them up to get this all square as I definitely don't want it all to catch me out later on for some silly reason.
I have just over 2 years to go before I'm clear so want to get it correct now.
Does anyone know in reality which is the best option for a credit card so I can start showing some good form? I have read all the gubbins on the site but I am none the wiser as to which is the best or indeed most likely for me to obtain:rotfl:
