Getting back on track

Options
Hi guys,

I have been a long time reader of these forums but this is my first time of posting as Im after a bit of advice.

I recently used noodle to check my credit report and my problem is my I have 2 CCJs (Due off June & Sept 2013) and 2 Defaults (Due off July & December 2013).

At the moment I have a Santander account (£300 limit), 2 credit cards with Capital One (£500 limit, which never goes up) & Vanquis (recently raised to a £1000 limit).

A catalogue with Very (recently raised to a £1400 limit).

With my CCJs and Defaults coming off soon i want to put myself in the best position possible to be able to get accepted for better bank accounts, credit cards, car finance and a mortgage.

All my credit accounts are healthy with no missed payments or ever been overdrawn, my household bills are never paid late or missed so all is good except for my shown defaults which i refuse to pay (evil ex ).

What else should I be doing to try boost my rating? Am I better to have credit cards/catalogue which are totally paid off and not used or used a little and pay part of the balances just to show I can repayments!?

Also is there any other types of things I should be applying for to help me mend my broken past and how long once I have been cleared of the CCJs and defaults will things start looking up?

Thanks

The only potential problem you might have is the amount of available credit. You might want to close some accounts before applying for more. This would depend on how much you earn really. If you do this, make sure the closed accounts drop off your credit reports before applying for more.

Don't get payday loans as some lenders look on them negatively even if paid in full.

Things will look up immediately once defaults etc. drop off, but be patient and make sure you don't go applying for things until they've fallen off all three credit reports. Noddle usually takes the longest to update.

I was also considering getting a cashplus card with the credit builder option, would this actually be worth while?

Ive read mixed things about the cards and im confused to if it shows as a monthly payment or if its a yearly one, can anyone shed any light on this?

    Thanks
