Boris: Quitting EU won't solve our problems

If we left the EU, we would end this sterile debate, and we would have to recognise that most of our problems are not caused by “Bwussels”, but by chronic British short-termism, inadequate management, sloth, low skills, a culture of easy gratification and underinvestment in both human and physical capital and infrastructure,” the London Mayor says.

Also of interest, and as many of us have been saying...
The Government is currently reviewing policy in different Whitehall departments to separate EU-derived legislation from that originating in this country. It is understood that the “balance of competencies review” has already discovered that many rules and regulations blamed on Brussels are actually a result of “gold plating” by Whitehall mandarins.

Your quotes read well, and the first one particularly is mostly about human nature.

The second quote makes perfect sense.

This country’s workers are plagued by “sloth” and under-perform compared with their foreign rivals, says the London Mayor.

Interesting way to describe, for example tradesmen who have been undercut and priced out of work by masses of Eastern European Migrants.

Weren't you saying something the other day about thinking your statements through?

So you want to create artificial scarcity in tradesmen, driving up prices for consumers, and increasing housing costs.

    Really?

    What problem is that?

Nope. You see this is how you twist things.

    What I said was;

How on earth you reach the conclusion that I want to create artificial scarcity of tradesmen is beyond me. Actually it's not, because like I have said in another thread your posts are both malicious and manipulative.

What I don't want is a massive oversupply of labour in the market, driving wages down and putting less money into the economy.

I'm sure even you with your armchair economics would have to agree that there is a scale - I guess mass over supply of labour would be at one extreme. and "artificial scarcity" (LOL) would be at the other.

Surely it would be better to have some kind of balance?

    Well it's pretty simple.

As we are all Europeans, and able to move freely for work or residence throughout Europe, then the free movement of labour ensures that supply and demand for tradesmen are in equilibrium and a fair market price is set.

You want to reduce the supply of Labour, creating an artificial scarcity, the same as if you banned Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish tradesmen.

Equilibrium means that you take from one side of the scales and add to the other.

Neither will joining it. History shows what joining an EU can do, EU farming and EU Fishing scandals come to mind.
