With most beauty products (and dish/laundry detergents too) very many people use more than they need. For instance, I made my shampoo last over twice as long by stopping dolloping it out so enthusiastically.

Agree with the last post.....I've jsut discovered that my current conditioner actually seems to work better if I water it down a bit! I think that's because I can spread it through my long hair better. Another thing I thought of that might help when debt-busting is NEVER to pay more than 99p for stuff like toothbrushes, toothpaste, bubble bath, all that basic kind of stuff, as it's always on sale in the 99p shop & it's obviously pointless paying more in other shops for the absolutely identical brand. Admittedly there's a lot of tat in pound shops, but there's some brilliant finds as well, & I always feel really pleased with myself when I find a bargain e.g. I got some very posh bars of soap, nicely boxed last year & put some of those away in my present cupboard because they were nice enough to give as gifts. It's a case of changing your mindset more than anything else. It's not simply a case of what we want to buy, it's a case of adapting those wants according to our own individual incomes & saving for the things we'd like to own rather than using somebody else's money to buy them, which is what credit is.

No that was for a 12 month contract for sim only - we only ever buy sim free phones so that we can choose networks to suit where we are. Eg I live overseas and use a local sim and have a Payg to use when I visit UK as cheaper than roaming.

A girl called jack blog is doing the rounds at the moment - she fed her and son for £10 a week!

  • check out the cashback sites also for phone contracts (quidco & TCB) I think everyone else has already pointed out all the grocery bits. If you can afford to buy in bulk (i.e pasta, loo rolls) you will pay less overall and it will help with the budget. I'd check out the grocery challenge as others have suggested, it was invaluable to me when I first joined here :)
