How to work out length of service with gaps in between service

For the purpose of working out my annual leave, I have been asked how many years of service I have in the NHS.
I have worked on and off in the NHS since 1987. Most of the earlier posts in the NHS were temping during my summer holidays. The later posts were on a permanent basis.
Many thanks.

I think Annual Leave is worked out on continuous service to date.0

I think this is laid out in one of the various NHS handbooks.
it may depend on what the reson for the total is, some benifits may only depend on the latest continuous stint(I think some small gaps are allowed)
The starting point will be documenting the various dates of employment and then seeing which qualify under any rules.
You will also need these to verify any pension entitlements.0 -
I think Annual Leave is worked out on continuous service to date.
In relation to annual leave entitlement for NHS non-medical staff, AfC has reckonable service in the NHS as the aggregate - that is any period of time that has been worked in the NHS regardless of whether there has been a break in service.0 -
Your terms of service inform....
12.1 An employee’s continuous previous service with any NHS employer counts as reckonable service in respect of NHS agreements on redundancy, maternity, sick pay and annual leave.
12.4 On returning to NHS employment, a previous period or periods of NHS service will be counted towards the employee’s entitlement to annual leave.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0
