As you can probably tell from the title of this thread, I'm not entirely convinced by this.

I'm having difficultly seeing how this actually translates into "no more pension problems" which is what the article clearly appears to be trying to infer....Marcus Hurd, senior consultant and actuary at Aon Consulting said: “This is a momentous day for UK pension schemes because the average UK pension fund is now likely to be in surplus – this is clearly a significant move towards avoiding a future pensions crisis.
Conjugating the verb 'to be":

The state of the share and gilt markets is only one reason the pension funds are in deficit: mistakes over longevity forecasts are probably just as important. But it depends on the scheme and many companies have made quite substantial extra payments over the last few years to fill in the black holes.
Nevertheless the improvement in the markets will have had a very welcome effect on many schemes.Trying to keep it simple...0
