I'm doing a self-managed DMP and apart from the war of attrition with MBNA (I "won" in the end) Halifax/Bank of Scotland refuse to accept my offer of (pro-rata) payments & decline to freeze interest unless they receive the offer from someone like PayPlan, National Debtline,CCCS etc Has anyone else doing a self-managed DMP encountered this and what did you do?.......I know the simple answe is to take up the afore-mentioned agencies time but any other advice.
Thanks - any help appreciated and in return I can offer advice on (social) housing, housing law.
Now where's my Robbie Fowler shirt.......

right at the bottom of the page is sample letters - 2 of them are relevant - one is if you dont want to go to court the other is if you don't mind
I have the same problem with MBNA and Beneficial (which I think might also be bank of scotland!)
Told beneficial this morning that if they continue to add interest and charges I will stop paying them anything at all and let the courts decide.0 -
Do you use the national debthelplines statement of income and expenditure you can download it and it looks professional and you can point out in your letters that you have took advice from the national debt helpline.
Also on there website National Debt Helpline they have a list of sponsors - now I had trouble with Lloyds who were a sponsor and I pointed out to them that they were not accepting a payment offer utalising a charity they support - its worth a go!
You can also complain that by not accepting payments and adding charges and interest they are not helping you tackle your debt and courts would frown on that.0
