Hi I would like to get one of these but I don't know which is the best one to go for. I would like it to play games while travelling and to send and receive e-mails and watch films on BBC Iplayer etc..
I have looked at the Kindle HD fire and the Kobo Arc but I am still confused which is the best one, can you help please? Thanks.

Personally I would avoid both and go for an android tablet instead which you can get the free kindle app for.
I've not seen or used the arc but I've used the fire hd and it is incredibly limited compared to an equal spec and price android. The hd come with a camera but you have to pay to download the app to use it and when I last checked it was £3.49.
If you go for a tablet (including the arc and fire hd) over just an e reader you will be limited by the battery if you want to use it for watching videos while travelling. Most tablets have a battery life of between 4 and 10 hours but you can at least half that for video playback, maybe even quarter.
You may be better heading over to the techie board, plenty of threads and advice on the best current tablets0 -
For reading books the standard Kindle and Kobos are probably ideal, but if you want to watch videos and play games etc then a normal tablet is probably a better idea. I don't know much about the Kobo Arc, but the Kindle Fire is a good cheapish tablet. On the other hand I think it is fairly restricted to Amazon stuff, while you can get a more 'open' tablet for a similar price like the Nexus tablet.0

If you want to be locked into Amazon's ecosystem than get a Kindle, the Kobo is a lot more open in terms of allowing you to buy from other sites.0

Hi I have tried the Nexus tablet but the speakers are not as good as on the Kindle HD. I would like the Apple one but it is too expensive, can you recommend another tablet which is good please?0
