Some of sky are in contracts also though as they've been added at other times than some products so we wouldn't be able to fully cancel it. I'm hoping that in December after helping hands from parents (and grandparents) that not all of our savings will be needed for the baby and I would be able to do the remaining ones as full and final payments...hopefully. I appreciate what you're saying, we've shopped around but as it's a new build area some services like broadband aren't all available there, hence why we have to pay extra for broadband. I wasn't happy about it as it's a poorer signal than in our old house and we have to pay more just because it's one of the only bb providers there.

I'm also aiming to make over payments on anything I can throughout the 7 months as over the next few months we *should* have more expendible income now that OH isn't commuting for work and I've had a crisp new pay rise but with moving that extra money has currently been eaten up with paying settled bills (we've VERY much learnt)

  • Oh yeah, the contracts are a pain :)

Never mind, you'll havet to stay tied in. Anyway, just want to wish you luck on your debt-free journey. You've already come a great distance, the rest should be a breeze! Stick at it!

I'm hoping! I'm not disregarding what you're saying and I appreciate it, but they're clever monkeys adding contracts to seperate products!

It's the last bits we've been putting off so I just need to get a grip and push at it. My OH is wanting to focus on savings more than debts and I'm really struggling to make him see that we can save some i.e our 'spare earnings' from the pub and the tips we make. But our fixed income (self employed earning and my salary) needs to go on debts, household bills and daily living costs and IF there is any left over choose the option of over paying or saving. It's SO frustrating but hopefully we'll get there, we've been having this argument for 12 months so I know it's not going any where ;)

    £28 in tips last night...savings £109.

My sister (the helpful baby shop fairy) has found a lush pram which was £600 down to £100 which she's bought for me to pay her back for, and a cot bed which was £200 down to £100 so that's saved £250 off of the baby plan we were going to set up...very helpful news!

Fair enough I would still say ring them and threaten to leave or say Virgin has set up in your area and you are thinking they are better value for money.

Maybe I wasn't firm enough with them about this but I called and said that I wasn't happy to be paying an extra £10 per month for a poorer quality internet just because I've moved house (we've gone from 14mb d/l speed to 0.3 mb!) and that I was looking to leave...then they just put me through to technical...but there's no improvement. They're sending me out a different lead but if that still doesn't work then I might ask OH to call and get a bit stroppy about it and see what happens. Apparently it's because we don't have a fibre optic in our area but I'm pretty sure even dial up was faster than my current 'broadband'.

Aw, congratulations! I've been in quite a bit of pain and having to wait till a scan on Friday to see if everything is okay or not; longest 14 days ever. Just keeping my fingers crossed now, really scary :(
Have fun with your budget, we set up a baby plan at Mothercare so we could just pay little bits off at a time which seems quite handy but my sister works there...she probably over sold me stuff ;)
