Emergency Tax paid in March

Quick question..

I started work in Mid-March. I didn't get my P45 from the DWP until after March wages had been processed and so paid the ET rate.

When should I get that ET back? Thanks in advance.

In the next few months but you may be able to sort it quicker yourself.

Have you got your P60 and what does this show? Roughly how much taxable income did you have last year, jobs, Jobseekers Allowance etc.

Just found my P60 online - earnt £780 and paid £156 in tax for March...

That definitely wasn't emergency tax, £780 paid in month 12 of the tax year on the emergency code would have resulted in tax of about £21.

Any refund would depend on your total income for year to 05:04:2013 - if this was less than £8105 then you should get the £156 back.
