France for alcohol?

Hi all, I am getting married this October and our venue charges no corkage for all alcohol consumed in the day, we have 90 guests and have already bought all the wine, (3 for £12, then 25% off, then £12 off a £60 spend) so pretty bargainous! But we are considering a day trip to France to get some spirits, beer, etc.
Has anyone done this before, is it worth it? We are looking at 2.5 hrs to Folkestone but then our tesco clubcard vouchers pay for our crossing through the tunnel. What do you think, is it worth it or should I just buy it here?
Thanks!

I would really look at pricing it up here. Could you maybe contact some local wholesalers here and ask if they'd be willing to sell to you as your buying lots!
Or ill admit (I work in a wholesaler) some of the offers the big supermarkets do actually match our wholesale price!!0 -
We are going to France to get our wine for our wedding day, but that is largely due to my Dad having a house there so combining the wine run with a few days away.
You can get very drinkable wine for around 2 euros a bottle, if not a little less when on Promo.
This website will give you an idea on prices http://www.carrefour-calais.com/default/Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -
Go a little further than Calais towards Boulogne on the motorway, I think it's exit 61 for Coquelles. Look to the left for the overhead wires of the high speed train, you'll see a large white warehouse with (I can never remember which) Beer and Wine or Franglais on the side. Great place for wine, much better than Carrefour Cite Europe, also pretty good for beers, both English and continental. No good for spirits - they're normally cheaper in the like of Tescos here! One nice thing with Franglais for wine, they have a tasting area and normally about 20 varied wines you can taste.0

Go to france by all means and have a lovely day out and get the beer and spirits...but actually with summer around the corner I expect that there will be just as good offers around in the supermarkets.
Morrisons are usually very good when it comes to large sririt bottles on offer and most of the main supermarkets will be offerring the 3 boxes of beer for £x within the next few months...especially if they want to promote a summer bbq theme with the bank holidays that are still to come.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
