what's on
Solihull's Mell Square will be transformed into a hub for jumping jazz and melodic blues during the late-May bank holiday weekend as this year's Jazz & Blues Festival gets underway. Amongst the many acts programmed for 2013 will be trumpet player Bruce Adams, the Dixie Ticklers, The Will Johns Band, King Pleasure And The Biscuit Boys, The New Orleans Hotshots and audience favourites Ricky Cool, The Broombusters and The Fabulous Boogie Boys.
The Big Bear Ffolly - a multi-artist performance celebrating a tradition dating back to the 60s, a time when Black Sabbath, Ozzy et al, toured with the Ffolly - will take place at Solihull Arts Complex on the Friday and feature performances by King Pleasure..., Val Wiseman, Tipitina and Boss of Blues Roy Forbes.
Other highlights during the four-day event include a Mardi Gras-style parade (Sunday), numerous food stalls and various family activities.
The Jazz & Blues Festival takes place at various Solihull locations from Fri 24 to Mon 27 May.
We've joined with festival organisers to offer whatsonlive readers the chance to win a bumper festival prize comprising an overnight stay for two at Solihull's Ramada Hotel on 24 May, dinner at Giraffe restaurant and tickets to The Big Bear Ffolly at the Solihull Arts Complex. Competition closes on Tuesday 21 May. The winner will be notified by email Wed 22 May
