Worried about my credit score in relation to getting a mortgage.

At the moment, i gather I have got a low credit score. Recently I have just paid off all my debts (of £1500) and I've managed to save just over 3k with my partner.

We're looking to collect between 5k- 10k as a deposit before we go looking to buy a flat.

The only thing that seriously worries me is my low credit score. He's got a good one but I haven't (can't apply for credit cards though I have managed to keep one in check).

At the moment I am using the credit card every month and paying it off in full. I'm also trying to use my bank account more and keep it in the green (which I have been doing and see no problem in doing).

Is there anything else that I could be doing to improve my score? I really don't want my score to affect our mortgage application :(

Have you missed any loan or card payments in the past?

Any defaults or CCJs registered against you?

Not got any CCJ's but I have missed one or two (well a few) credit card payments. I've just been to the bank (HSBC) and they tell me that (with them) I've got a score of 35.

    How bad is 35? :(

Dont really know what HSBC score is like, so cany comment

Best bet is get an up to date copy of your Experian or Equifax credit report and show this to a whole of market adviser

It all boils down to this and what actual figures you are looking at
